Our Team

J. Matthew Tripi, PE
Principal
Matt founded TES in 2003, after working for Simpson Gumpertz & Heger of Waltham, MA, and Construction Program Management, Inc. of Scottsdale, AZ. He holds a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering Degree from Penn State University and a Master of Civil & Environmental Engineering from MIT.

Matt's background includes structural design and investigation, foundation design, temporary support design, project management, structural testing, building information systems programming, fiber reinforced plastics research and design, and structural failure analysis including litigation support.

Matt oversees TES business operations and manages its structural design and investigation projects. He is licensed in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania.

Simon F. Shipley, PE
Staff Consultant
Simon joined TES in 2010 after working more than 24 years with Simpson Gumpertz & Heger of Waltham, MA. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Birmingham University in England, and a Master of Structural Engineering Degree from Cornell University.

Simon's diverse background includes building envelope inspection, investigation, and design. He has extensive experience in building stone masonry technology, construction project management, difficult / special access projects, remote monitoring and building information systems, and analysis of structural failures including litigation support. He has authored numerous papers and journal articles on building envelope failures and investigation techniques, and has served as Task Group Chairman on ASTM Committee E06.55 - Standard Practice for Industrial Rope Access, a facade access technique which, on certain projects, offers significantly lower costs than conventional access methods.

At TES, Simon oversees building envelope investigation and remedial design projects in the eastern United States. Simon is a registered professional structural engineer in Massachusetts and Florida.

William O. Bishop, PE
Senior Advisor
Bill has been working with TES since 2007, while simultaneously maintaining a private practice as a sole practitioner. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Massachusetts University, and a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from MIT.

Bill brings more than 35 years experience with structural and building envelope inspection, investigation, and design projects. He has extensive experience in the design and analysis of facade structural systems, including: light-gauge metal framing, precast concrete, architectural metal panels, and exterior insulation and finishing systems (EIFS). His background also includes: design and investigation of structural systems and foundations for numerous buildings throughout New England, design of temporary support structures for oil spill cleanup sites, and analysis of structural failures for litigation support.

Bill serves as a Senior Advisor and peer reviewer to TES on both structural and building envelope projects. Bill is a registered professional structural engineer in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Florida.

Michael J. Baron, EIT
Project Engineer
Mike joined TES in 2010 after working for over three years on large scale commercial structures with LeMessurier Consultants of Cambridge, MA, and interning at the Schnabel Foundation Company of Framingham, MA. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Master of Structural Engineering Degree from Tufts University.

Mike's background includes commercial and residential structural design, structural condition assessment, concrete restoration, shallow and deep foundation design, design and deployment of remote monitoring systems, organizing construction administration services for commercial projects, and building envelope investigations. He frequently calls upon his family's background in commercial contracting to develop simple and buildable structural solutions. He has experience in traditional structural engineering software packages, as well as complex 3D modeling and analysis software such as SolidWorks, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software such as REVIT Structure.

At TES, Mike serves as a Project Engineer for both structural and building envelope projects.

Nick Gianferante, EIT
Contracting Specialist
Nick has been working with TES since 2005, while simultaneously owning and running his residential and light commercial construction company, Danielle Enterprises, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from UMass-Dartmouth, and a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from MIT.

Nick brings more than 25 years experience with design and engineering for residential and light commercial construction projects. His diverse background includes design and construction of waterfront structures, design and evaluation of framing systems for residential structures, residential construction, evaluation of projects for the design-build construction approach, and land / property development.

Nick serves as a Contracting Specialist and peer reviewer to TES on residential and light commercial projects.
